January 15, 2006What: High Stakes Poker
Where: The Game Show Network (GSN)
When: Premieres January 16, 2006
Mondays at 9/8 (est/pst)

You have never seen No Limit Holdem like this on TV before! - GSN is making poker history by bringing poker fans the first-ever look into the biggest private no limit Holdem cash games in town.
In my opinion, this is the most exciting poker event to hit the airwaves in a while. This is real no-limit, folks, with the best of the best from the poker world playing high stakes poker with their own money.
The 13 episode series will bring us cash games between poker pros and wealthy businessmen, with a minimum buy-in of $100,000. Poker fans won't want to miss this show! I can't wait to see it, in fact, I've just called my cable company to have GSN added.
Gabe Kaplan, now a respected poker player in his own right and formerly of the TV show "Welcome Back Kotter", will be providing the commentary as the big guys battle for the pots.
Unlike poker tournaments where only the tournament entry fee is at risk, High Stakes Poker will be broadcasting serious, high stake, No Limit Holdem cash games, where the players will be playing each pot for real money, and with a minimum $100,000 buy-in, the pots will definitely include some heart-stopping nose bleeders.
Players participating include Doyle Brunson, Phil Hellmuth, Barry Greenstein, Todd Brunson, Jennifer Harman, Johnny Chan, Antonio Esfandiari, Jerry Buss, Fred Chamanara, Amir Nasseri, Daniel Negreanu, Mimi Tran, Sean Sheikhan, Bob Stupak and some wealthy businessmen, such as business tycoon Fred Chamanara (a Chicago restaurant owner) and Dr. Amir Nasiri (a successful Las Vegas physician).
As if watching some of the best poker players in the world compete each other outside of a tournament setting, High Stakes Poker will also give viewers some glimpses into the daily lives of pro players - such as Doyal Brunson's attendance of Laker game.
